Steve and Rachel Visit : Freizeitpark Lochmühle

On a friend's recommendation (Thank you, Jenny) we decided to take our last free day all together and go to Freizeitpark Lochmühle (or Mill Pond Amusement Park).  This is a small park for young kids just about 20 minutes from where we live.  The kids loved it, even though it turned out to be the hottest day of the year so far.

One of the cool things about the park is that it is self-operated.  No staff to run most of the rides.  See Rachel?  She is pulling on the chain which engages the motor to turn the merry-go-round.  You could ride as fast and as long as you could stand it.

That's E in the red hat: he and his friend (Steve tried to go with them but with him they weighed too much) had to pull on the ropes to climb up the tower!

And up they went!

Then Rachel and A pulled themselves up.

Some rides were motorized, of course.  Here are the swings

And the roller coaster was just perfect for the kids

Bumper cars

If your kid wants to ride around in the boats (painted like boots) then you have to push them.

Unless their arms are long enough to push themselves.

Something about these big ducks was a bit disturbing to me.

We almost lost L under all these balls.  Can you see the kids?

To make the helicopters move, you have to pedal.  It's hard work.

This was one of E's favorites.  You would push the bar and the car would roll over and over around the track.  Upside down.  E rode it over and over.  Literally.

We fed the baby goats.

Jumped on trampolines

And took a nap in the shade.  A good time was had by all.

  1. That does look cool. I thought E was Steve for second as I scrolled pictures. The Germans have that interactive mechanical thing down. I wish we had more stuff like that in the states.
